As volleyball grows and gets more competitive at a young age in the Ocala area and state of Florida, OPU is excited to announce a new youth development program beginning in November 2022. OPU Elite Youth program is a 6 month program for 8-9 year old players looking to learn the skills required to compete and provide a smooth transition into playing club volleyball for Ocala Power United and our 10s club program. This program will be coached by coach Lauren McMurrer who has coached 10s with OPU for the last 4 years. Coach Lauren’s 10s teams have finished in the top 5 in the state of Florida each year. For the 2020-2021 season, the OPU 10s team won the Florida Region tournament finishing #1 in the state and that team went on to become the 1st 11s team from OPU to qualify for USAV Junior National Championships in the 2021-2022 season. OPU’s 10s team for the 2021-2022 season finished 3rd in the Nation at the only National Championships for 10s-AAU Nationals in Orlando, FL!

We believe in creating and training well rounded players as early as we can. OPU Elite Youth Training will focus on not only teaching fundamental volleyball skills, but also emphasize the importance of focused and intentional practice and competing. In addition, this program is an introduction to the “club season” schedule, minus travel.

Tryouts for the OPU Elite Youth Training Program will be held on October 12th, 2022 and from those tryouts, 16 girls will be selected for the program and begin practice in November. Practices will be 2 days a week with 1 “Play Day” each month where the girls will play at OPU in a game setting to get experience with rotations, game rules, etc.

NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED! The only requirements are age (8 or 9 years old-USAV age-born between July 2013-June 2015), and the willingness to learn to compete!

***Tryouts will be in October but practices will not start until November, after mini club is over!****

OPU is thrilled to announce the coaching staff line up for the 2022-2023 club season!

From Taylor:

"My name is Taylor Fosler. I graduated from the University of Tampa with a Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health with a concentration in Medical Sciences. I played volleyball at the University of Tampa where I won two NCAA DII Women’s Volleyball National Championships, in 2018 and 2021.

I have recently moved back home to Ocala to pursue a career in Exercise Science. I am the Athletic Performance Director at Quantum Human Performance (previously Innovative Athletic Performance or IAP). Our athletic performance program offers a science based approach to sport specific performance training and injury prevention. I am excited for the opportunity to work with the athletes at Ocala Power as well as their families, and foster an ongoing relationship with the OPU community.
